We went out to see the boats participating in the Puig Classic Sailing Regatta.

Every July an edition of the famous Puig Classic Sailing Regatta is held in the waters of the Port of Barcelona, the most important event of its kind in Europe.

It is a real spectacle, exciting and striking to go to see the start of the race, mingle with the participating sailboats, see them up close in all their splendor, watch their maneuvers, see how they hoist sails and these swell pushed by the wind.

Are you going to miss it?

Itinerary

They have been bringing together the most prestigious classic and vintage sailboats from all over the world for XV editions and they want to continue doing it for many more editions. Vintage boats are considered to be those launched before December 31, 1949, and classic boats are those launched up to December 31, 1975. And if these sailboats have a length of more than 23 meters, they are known as Big Boats.

Many are the sailing ships that have witnessed historical events that have visited us over the years. We remember the Islander, which holds the solo sailing record for sailing around the world three times, or the Moonbeam IV, where Princes Rainier and Grace of Monaco spent their honeymoon.

And we, from our beloved 13.6m sailing yacht Chronos, will mingle with them and accompany them on their departure.

Around 09:30h we will meet at the Port of Badalona, after a short talk from the captain about safety issues, we will sail to the port of Barcelona. We will wait in the vicinity of the mouth to see the passage of all the participating boats, we will mingle with them and when the race starts we will try to get close to the starting line to live live the excitement of it. We will stay nearby to see how the race is developing and watch the passing of some buoys.

Around 15:00h we will arrive back at Port de Badalona.

Prepare your camera or your retina because we will mingle with real floating jewels.
