A tour around Menorca
Beautiful green island, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993, for the richness of its natural heritage.
Much less populated than its big sister, Mallorca, it is the first place where the sun rises in all of Spain.
White sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, impressive cliffs, virgin islets and seabeds of great beauty. Small villages, rich popular and cultural traditions and varied gastronomy. Menorca has it all, that’s why it is our favorite!
Come with us on a tour of Menorca!
Itinerary
For having, has up to 7 lighthouses, strategically located, with the tour of the island that we offer, we will see them all.
We will begin with the first one, the one of Ciutadella, where we will arrive having traveled the 113Nm that separate it from the Port Marina Badalona. It is the second urban center of the island of Menorca, and its former capital until 1714, when the English gave the capital to Mahon, which it still holds today. Its port, where we would moor, is considered one of the most beautiful of the Mediterranean.
Very close to the town there are beaches of great beauty. We will arrive by sailboat, we will anchor and we will be able to bathe in places like Cala’n Bosch, Cala Turqueta, Cala Macarella or Cala Macarelleta. Beautiful beaches with turquoise waters and fine white sand. In the area we will see the second lighthouse, the Cap d’Andrutx.
We will continue along the south of the island, passing by Cala Galdana and Cala Trebalúger, a cove that is difficult to access on foot and is not very populated. From there, Cala Escorxada and the longest cove, Son Bou, with almost 3 kms long. We will anchor wherever we feel like it and the captain believes, either in Cala Coves, or Beniparratx, or perhaps Cala’n Porter, with its white houses located in the middle of the rock. There you will find the famous Cova d’en Xoroi. And very close Binibequer, one of the most beautiful villages of Menorca.
We prepare to discover the third lighthouse, the Isla del Aire. The island is so named because of the strong winds that blow on it, like the Tramontana. If they let us, we cross between the island and Punta Prima and start climbing up the eastern side of the island towards its capital, Mahón. There is a fourth lighthouse, Punta de San Carles.
Mahon has one of the largest natural harbors in the world, with more than 5kms and for this reason alone it deserves a stop on the way. For this and to stroll through its historic center and try the famous Gin Xoriguer or a tapa of Mahon cheese.
We will continue sailing north, leaving the Natural Park of S’Albufera des Grau and Cala Tortuga to the left, towards the Cape of Favàritx, at the northeast end of the island, where we will see the fifth lighthouse, the Favàritx lighthouse.
And from there to Fornells, famous, among other things, for its lobster stew. Nearby is Cabo Caballeria, with the sixth lighthouse.
The coves that we find here are abrupt, wild, with cliffs that die directly into the sea: Cala Pilar, Cala Pregonda or Cala Morell until reaching the northwest end, with the Nati lighthouse, built in 1912 to prevent the constant shipwrecks that occurred on the north coast of Ciutadella. It is one of the most privileged places to contemplate the sunset, although we can go a little further south until we reach Pont d’en Gil, the favorite place for many people.
And from here to Ciutadella, a walk. Again in this town, we will get ready to start our return to Port Marina Badalona, where we are expected to arrive around 18:00h on the 8th day.
