“In AlmarBCN, we live sailing with passion and we want to share it with you. We are a nautical school in Badalona specialized in practical training and official qualifications, offering from beginner courses to advanced crossings. Our goal is for you to enjoy the sea with safety and confidence, whether for leisure or to become a professional sailor.

With Captain Alfons (with sailing experience since 1989) and our fully equipped sailboat, the Chronos, and with the collaboration of Sergi, from Bricolaje Nautico, you will learn in a real and dynamic environment. Whether you are looking to qualify your certificate, improve your skills or simply live the experience of sailing, at AlmarBCN we have the perfect course for you.

AlmarBCN nautical school offers you these 5 training plans.

All of them are open to people without qualifications or experience, as well as sailors who want to improve their techniques or gain confidence. You can also sign up if your intention is to sail regularly and prepare to obtain one of the official qualifications (Navigation License, Basic Navigation Skipper, Recreational Boats Skipper or Yacht Skipper). The only thing you need is the desire to learn, improve and sail.

INCLUDED IN THE PRICE FOR ALL OPTIONS:

Sailboat Chronos, 44-foot Bavaria model, with all the necessary safety and navigation equipment up to date.
Accommodation in double cabin to share.
Compulsory travelers insurance and civil liability insurance.
In the official options, processing of the internships carried out, before the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Fresh water.
Tea and coffee at breakfast and in the evening for those on duty.

OPTION 1. Coastal Crossing of Perfection (2 days)

Addressed to: Sailors with or without qualifications, who wish to improve their sailing skills and gain experience in real conditions. It is also ideal for those who have recently obtained their qualifications and want to strengthen their confidence before embarking on longer voyages.

What are we going to do?

Voyage planning using nautical charts and electronic tools.
Coastal navigation practices with visual and electronic references.
Advanced port maneuvers (docking, undocking, anchoring in different conditions).
Steering the sailboat with different sail and engine configurations.
Night navigation: light identification, course control and safety in the dark.
Simulation of emergency situations and safety protocols.

This course is perfect for those who want to become more comfortable in autonomous navigation and improve their ability to react in different situations.
We will meet on Friday at 19:00h at the door of the dock A of the port of Badalona, we will sail during the weekend and we will finish in the same port on Sunday around 18:00h approximately.

PRICE: 375,00 € per person

OPTION 2. High Altitude Crossing to the Balearic Islands (2 days)

Addressed to: Sailors with or without qualifications, who want to gain experience in long crossings, learn how to manage navigation on the high seas and prepare for challenges such as crossing the Mediterranean.

What are we going to do?

Planning an offshore crossing: choice of route, weather analysis and preparation of the sailboat.
Navigation watch: shift distribution, maritime traffic surveillance and fatigue management.
Astronomical navigation and positioning without GPS (basic concepts).
Adjustment of the sailboat for different wind and sea conditions.
Use of radar and other electronic navigation aids.
Contingency resolution: maneuvers in adverse conditions, equipment failure, decision making under pressure.
Overnight crossing and crossing to the Balearic Islands, with navigation in rotating shifts.

An essential experience for those who dream of sailing long distances and expand their autonomy as skippers.
We will meet on Friday at 19:00h at the door of pontoon A of the port of Badalona, we will sail during the weekend and finish in the same port, on Sunday around 18:00h approximately.

PRICE: 375,00 € per person

OPTION 3. Sailing Qualification (16 h. valid for all qualifications)

Addressed to: Graduates in PER or Yacht Skipper who want to expand their powers to govern sailing boats.

What are we going to do?

Knowledge and handling of sails: mainsail, genoa, jib and spinnaker.
Trimming and optimization of sails according to course and weather conditions.
Basic and advanced maneuvers: tacks, gybes, upwind and downwind courses.
Steering the sailboat with sails only, without motor assistance.
Balance control and weight distribution on board.
Safety practices specific to sailboats: use of reefing, reduction of sails in bad weather.
Anchoring and maneuvering in windy harbor.

This course provides the practical knowledge necessary to sail safely and confidently, whether on short or long trips.

OPTION 4. Qualification for the Balearic Islands (PER)

Addressed to: PER license holders who wish to extend their sailing area to the Balearic Islands, allowing them to make crossings between the mainland and the islands.

What are we going to do?

Planning a voyage of at least 24 hours.
Steering of the sailboat at sea, watchkeeping and surveillance of maritime traffic.
Advanced use of nautical charts and GPS for navigation without coastal references.
Introduction to dead reckoning and the use of waypoints.
Safety and emergency protocols for long voyages.
Consumption control and provisioning management.
Night crossing and offshore contingency simulations.

A fundamental step for those looking to expand their skills as skippers and prepare for larger trips.
We meet on Friday at 19:00h at the door of dock A of the port of Badalona, we sail during the weekend and finish in the same port, on Sunday around 18:00h approximately.

PRICE: 475,00 € per person

OPTIONS 3 + 4: Sailing license + Balearic license (suitable for PER).

PRICE: 550,00 € per person

OPTION 5. Yearly introductory or advanced sailing course

After detecting that many people who obtain the various titles of nautical sports, do not get the security, confidence and knowledge they should to be self-sufficient at sea, I thought of making a series of training blocks to try to transmit my knowledge about sailing, with the aim, not that you get any title (which you already have), but that you are able to control the boat and lose the fear (not respect) and thus be able to sail safely. We have been doing these courses since 2010. Two groups are made, one for people who are just starting or need to practice more basic techniques (hoisting, lowering, tacking and round tacking, man overboard…) and another for those who already master a little more (maneuvers in port, reefing, geenaker, sailing in pairs and solo). Each group will be between 5 and 7 people, in order to give personalized attention. There is one 5-hour session per month, on Saturday or Sunday, morning, afternoon or evening, from September to June, both included. Since everyone has other commitments (family, other activities, work,…) the dates of the sessions are agreed upon by the members of each group. Once the calendar has been agreed upon, it cannot be altered. These courses will be complemented with monographic courses on various nautical topics. Last year we already did the first monographic course, the VHF communications course of 6 hours (2 days) with simulators. It was very enriching and I believe that all those who attended are now in a position to correctly radiate a message in a situation of need. Continuing with our philosophy (“to make sailing available to everyone”) the price for the whole course (10 sessions) is 700,00 € per person. For people who continue from last year doing these sessions or who are or have been part of the regatta team, there will be a discount of 10%, leaving the price at 630,00 €.
