Let's go to see the boats that participate in the Puig classical sail Regatta

Every July an edition of the famous Puig Classical Sail Regatta is held in the waters of the Port of Barcelona, ​​the most important event of its kind in Europe.

It is a real spectacle, exciting and striking, to see the regatta’s beginning. Mix with the participating sailboats, to see them up close in all their splendour. To observe their manoeuvres, to see how they raise sails and they swell pushed by the wind.

They have already held XIV editions bringing the most prestigious period and classical sailing ships from all over the world and they want to continue doing for so many more editions. Those that were launched before December 31, 1949 are considered period boats. Those that were launched until December 31, 1975 are considered as a classical boats. And if these sailboats have a length of more than 23 meters, they are known as Big Boats.

Many are the sailboats witnesses of historical events that have visited Barcelona in the last years. Islander is recalled, which holds the solo sailing record by circling the world on three occasions, or Moonbeam IV, where princes Rainier and Grace of Monaco spent their honeymoon.

And we, from our beloved Chronos sailboat of 44ft in length, will mix with them and accompany them on their departure.

About 09:30 am we will meet in the Port of Badalona, ​​after a short talk by the captain on security issues, we will sail direction to Barcelona port. We will wait in the inlet vicinity to see the passage of all the participating boats, we will mix with them and when the regatta starts we will try to get closer to the starting line to live the emotion of it. We will keep in the area to see how the event is developing and see the passing of some buoy.

Around 3:00 p.m. we will come back to the Port of Badalona.
